They have followed Limerick City and County Councils earlier rejection of our plans!
We don’t understand what the issue is with investment into Castletroy. What has happened is ridiculous.

“In its judgement, An Bord Pleanala ruled allowing the expansion would have a negative impact on Limerick city centre” – It doesn’t have to be like this. A growing city needs growing suburbs and Castletroy is just that.

Don’t tell us Castletroy isn’t important, we understand the city needs support, why can’t both work together.

It is not us (Castletroy) against them (The City), it never was, we come from Limerick… we all want Limerick to prosper, we love Limerick and understand the importance of the city buzzing and people shopping there but you are making it us against them when you say Castletroy cannot be invested in until the city is “fixed” and better footfall is generated. When will this happen, 2022, 2025, therefore no more growth at Castletroy for 3 years, 6 years?

The reality is the Council and An Bord Pleanala with this decision are putting shackles on the growth and support needed in a growing suburb… A suburb with expanding companies, an expanding University, an expanding workforce, an expanding population with expanding schools but NOT an expanding shopping centre!

We understand the need to invest in Limerick City, we support the need to invest in Limerick City! It is integral but so are places like Castletroy.

We are hopeful something can be done, we are hopeful we can make the investment in our local community we wanted to make. We want to keep supporting Castletroy, it is what the community both needs and deserves ❤️. Maybe some of the local or national politicians will show great leadership in finding a solution that supports both the city and Castletroy ❤️.
